I literally had no idea who he was talking about in that article. I had to look elsewhere to see. boiler September 11, 2012 Black eye for organization, but who cares as both seem to be org fillers. MK September 11, 2012 Had you been banned for this in the 70s there would have been no Big Red Machine. boiler September 12, 2012 Not sure there would have been baseball at all Sultan of swaff September 11, 2012 Do you guys think the Reds will carry both Mez and Navarro on the playoff roster? I like having a LH/RH catching combo with Hanigan, which favors Navarro, but I also don’t see how you wouldn’t want Mez’s power in a late game at-bat relative to someone like Cairo (and Stubbs for that matter). Terry M September 11, 2012 I just hope they don’t mess this kid up for his future what ever they do…. coltholt September 11, 2012 They will definitely carry Navarro in the post season, as they should based on his play and experience that he carries. Mesoraco definitely could be carried as well…but who knows. As for his future, no prospect’s future is going to be derailed by lack of playing time in September/October. Doug Gray September 11, 2012 I don’t think they will. I think Mesoraco will not be on the playoff roster unless one of the catchers get hurt between now and then. Norwood Nate September 11, 2012 I would have to think no. Mes has seemed to strike out a lot with little demonstrated power or average so far this year. That’s not a great combination for a PH. Navarro really has been a lift and I have a hard time seeing him not making the roster as it stands. If the Reds carry 14 positional players, I see Hanigan, Navarro, Votto, Phillips, Cozart, Frazier, Rolen, Ludwick, Heisey, Bruce, Paul, Stubbs as locks. Cairo and Valdez would probably round it out as they have been with the club all year and Dusty will make the experience argument. Although, if Cozart is still having back issues I may take Didi because I trust him at SS more than I do Valdez. Also, HRod has looked to have had good ABs in his short stint. If those two put together some good games I could see them pushing Cairo and Valdez (although I doubt it happens in reality, no matter how good they play). MK September 11, 2012 NO bj September 11, 2012 Mes cannot touch a low and away curve ball, and it seems that the scouting report is out. No way you can carry him over Navarro Scott from upstate NY September 11, 2012 That extra innings Reds game last night was one for the ages. Lot of ups and downs, great pitching, poor batting, questionable bunting options, Chapman pulled, BP’s subsequent tweet, and what I hope doesn’t turn into a trend the crowd’s “Wooooooo” yelps, which was initally described as an imitation of some dogs howling as it was bring your dog to the ball park day. RobL September 11, 2012 Doug, do you expect Juan Duran to repeat Bakersfield? If so, who DH’s more out of Duran, Yorman, Waldrop, and Juan Silva? Waldrop’s stock should be at a high for him right now, and Yorman seems to have gotten some of his stock back. Silva walks a ton, but doesn’t seem very fast or have average power. Duran K’s way too much and saw his ISO fall in the Cal league. What do you think about moving Duran to first base some? Buckley hasn’t really staked a strong claim to the spot. Doug Gray September 11, 2012 I think he will. I imagine they will mostly rotate the DH spot to get everyone time in the outfield. Buckley and Duran seem like similar players right now. Lots of raw power, tons and tons of strikeouts. fromcubawithluv September 12, 2012 I think it is time Duran was tried out as a pitcher. MK September 11, 2012 Rolen, Navarro, Stubbs, Valdez in there tonight. I was kind of hoping Rodriguez, Mesoraco, Phipps and Gregorius would be in there tonight after the long night last night. Really surprised Votto is back in there. He looked pretty stiff late in the game last night.
