MK July 14, 2013 David Vidal is starting to string some hits together. Jimmer July 14, 2013 Looking over some possible trade candidates, what does everyone think of Michael Young? Perfect #2 hitter. Can play 3b, SS (4g last year), 2b and 1B. Hit .338 in 2011. Type of guy Walt usually likes. Texas took on most of his money this year. Knowing the Reds and how they like to overpay, it would probably take Corcino. Guy July 14, 2013 I like Young but I think the Reds will stay away from this because they want Frazier to stay at 3rd. Trading Young would likely move Frazier to outfield short term, and I think the Reds want him improving as much as possible at third for the long term. SS would be pushing it for Young, who’s 36. But he could definitely bring some veteran presence. Doug Gray July 14, 2013 I can’t see it happening for some of the reasons Guy stated, but also because I don’t see the Phillies being a team moving players. Could be wrong, but I recently heard they weren’t looking to move guys yet. Jimmer July 14, 2013 I think Young could make all the average plays at SS. It’s not like Cozart is Ozzie Smith. Split time at 3b/SS. Sprinkle in some 1b/2b to spell Votto and Phillips, which would be pretty much what he did in Texas last year. Doug Gray July 14, 2013 Michael Young is a TERRBILE fielder. Comparatively, Zack Cozart IS Ozzie Smith out there. Cozart is one of the better defensive shortstops in baseball. Michael Young hasn’t played shortstop in years. He has on range anymore and has below average range at third base, move him over to shortstop and he has fallover ranger. RDriesen July 15, 2013 I wouldn’t trade for anyone. We don’t have the prospects to trade and we just aren’t good enough, right now, to trade few we have for someone.
