I was going to have a scouting notebook posted today, but I am moving it to Monday since traffic is down so much on the weekends and the internet is incredibly slow, so uploading videos is taking forever.
Phillip Ervin hit a solo home run last night in Dayton. You can check it out here…. it was a pretty good shot.
Robert Stephenson is pitching tonight after being skipped in his last turn through the rotation. It is on Milb.tv, so check that out if you find yourself with nothing to watch tonight.
The Billings Mustangs are off to a rough start in the 2nd half of the season. They are sitting at 2-8 in the second half after a rough first half as well.
Earlier this week Baseball America released their best tools for each league. In the California League Juan Silverio was listed as the best defensive third baseman. Last night he made three errors and now has 30 errors on the season. While the tools may be there, the skills don’t appear like they are just yet.
Some notes from the game here in Pensacola yesterday:
Travis Mattair – still making impressive plays with his glove. Devin Lohman almost made a fantastic play up the middle, but the runner was able to beat the throw. Yorman Rodriguez has a cannon. Loek Van Mil throws hard. I saw a 98 on one gun. I had heard he was throwing mid 90′s when I talked to a scout about him in June. Chris Manno…. watching him pitch from the photo well, being that close at a 90 degree angle, you can certainly understand why hitters will have problems against him when he is throwing strikes.
