Drew Cisco was put on the disabled list with a shoulder strain. Jackson Stephens will be taking over his spot in the rotation. Hopefully it isn’t anything serious with Cisco as he has had quite a good season.
Jonathan Reynoso will be out for the rest of the season with a meniscus injury. He has struggled this season, hitting just .238/.259/.306 on the season before the injury.
Shedric Long smacked his first professional home run last night. He has really turned his season around after a slow start. He began his career 0-23 before getting his first hit of his career. Since he broke through on that day he has hit .339/.391/.424 over 65 plate appearances. He just turned 18 last week.
Nick Christiani made his Major League debut over the weekend and looked good while doing it. He was throwing a fastball, slider, change up and even threw a cutter. As I noted last week, his stuff has looked better this season, particularly his fastball. Now being able to confirm he is throwing a cutter, that makes a lot of sense given what I have seen at times with him.
Over the weekend I was looking at some splits and noticed that in 2013 Yorman Rodriguez has faced a pitcher younger than him in just one game all season. So I decided to look back at all of his splits for his career. The first time he faced a pitcher younger than himself was just last year. In his career he has a grand total of 22 plate appearances against pitchers younger than he is. I find that to be simply incredible.
