Back in April things got prohibitively more expensive to operate the website to the point where I either had to begin charging for some content or the site was going to cease to exist. The site had outgrown the old hosting and the price to keep the site up and going went up nearly 700%. At the time, I talked about how I would have to reevaluate the site at the end of the year and kind of look and see if it was still a viable option to run the website.
Well, the time came for me to make the next payment for the server (the place that hosts all of the website) at the end of October, so I had to sit down and really dive into things. To be honest, the website isn’t a viable option at this point on its own. The number of expected subscribers wasn’t even 50% of what I had hoped for and the site, while it can support itself, doesn’t exactly support itself plus me.
However, I absolutely love doing this and I want to make a career out of working in baseball somehow. So I have put off the real world for another year. I hope to expand this website in particular, but also other parts of the baseball business that I am involved in. I still need to iron out the details with the proper authorities, and need to make another financial investment in myself to try and push my business forward. If my plan can happen, it will not only improve what I can do on this website, including adding more and better content, but will also give me personally an option of expanding the content that I can provide to other minor league/prospect websites.
So, for at least another year, the site will be around and trying to provide the same kind of content expected and hopefully adding better content as things progress forward. Thanks again for coming back day after day and helping me keep this silly dream alive to cover baseball every day.
