      Fixed!

I really wish MLB.com would go back to the old box scores. Having them in gameday where you can’t see the headers anymore is insanely annoying. I hate it.

Heisey looks good at the plate. Wonder if he could take leftfield from Ludwick.

    Trevor Bell really looked sharp.

Hannahan finally got into a real game.

Frazier played first base which was interesting.

I think, if he hadn’t already, Santiago locked up the 25th spot today. Wonder who will leave the 40-man roster?

What happened to Hernan Iribarren, is he injured.

I said that about Heisey a few days ago. I think he can. I would like to see Bernadino get some starts in LF also if he continues to impress. You mentioned you would wait until June for Ludwick to hit. I don’t think I would have that much patience.
This is the year for us to go all out to win. Give them a decent chance. If they don’t produce, run someone else out there. Salary wouldn’t matter to me.

Still not sure they will pull the plug on Ludwick regardless because I If think that would be the Jocketty’s will. Be a real power play by Price to start Heisey.

Here I just is a Price quote I just read about playing time for bench players:

“Everyone’s going to play,” he said. “That doesn’t mean everyone is going to play evenly. I’d like to have an active bench. I like to get (Skip) Schumaker floating around and getting at-bats. I’d like the same thing for (Chris) Heisey and (Jack) Hannahan, if he’s ready. (Brayan) Pena is going to play regularly because he’s our second catcher.”

Sounds like Heisey is a bench player.

I don’t think anyone has actually doubted that Heisey is on the bench unless there is an injury this spring. I really hope Jack Hannahan doesn’t see much time though. He isn’t any kind of upgrade on any front to anyone at the positions he can actually play.

i believe doug said Ibarren wasn’t in major league camp.

    • Doug Gray

Correct. He was not invited to big league camp, which is mind boggling.

Doug, With the injuries to the bullpen – does Trevor Bell have a change to make the rooster ?

    • Doug Gray

I think his lack of a spot on the 40-man probably holds him back in favor of someone who is on the 40-man, but if he keeps pitching well he could push himself onto the roster.

Doug who will be the starting catcher on opening day?

  5. DaveCT

Doug lets hope Hannahan can surprise us, but I think he may be a DL candidate then even a mid season DFA or release instead, especially if one of the many auditioning in AZ can mount a consistent challenge.

Has Price made any references to strengthening the bottom third of the roster? i know this is a football strategy but he seems to be giving very long looks at the bench and bullpen this camp.

I am excited about Bernadina, Trevor Bell, Jumbo Diaz and Beato. All 4 were great signings and could be very productive for the Reds in 2014. None of these players are on the 40 man, but will be in Cincinnati at some point. I am rooting for Bell especially since he is the grandson of Bozo the Clown, which is awesome. Bell, Diaz and Beato are primary reasons why you don’t give extensions to RP, Broxton and Marshall.
