Cincinnati Reds 2014 MLB Draft: Rounds 31-40 Scouting Reports Doug Gray June 7, 2014 4 Comments For posts on all of the 2014 Cincinnati Reds draft picks, you can click here. I am limiting posts on the front page to try and keep the site from crashing. The first thing that I want to note is that if the site doesn't look right, it is because the other format, plus all of the traffic is causing too much stress on the server and causing it to crash, so I have reverted to the most simplistic view of the site to try and keep it running through the day. If things look normal, pay no attention to this message. Today there are 30 rounds worth of picks. I will be doing three posts for the day, each with 10 picks so that things don't get overly long and overbearing all on one post. Things should go rather quickly today with so many picks, so there may not be much interaction with me today on twitter or in the comments section as I figure I will be trying to track down information as things go for the entire time between picks today, where as yesterday there was about 45 minutes between picks, today there will probably be about 15 minutes between each pick. Cincinnati Reds 31st Round Selection: OF Joshua Palacios, San Jacinto Scouting Report The 6' 1" and 185 lb outfielder shows good speed and can play center field. He is listed as a switch hitter, but only hit from the left side in 2014. He has room to fill out some. He shows some good bat speed at the plate. His arm is plenty for center field. He could be a tough sign, as he was ranked 324th on the Baseball America Top 500. The big righty can throw his fastball into the mid 90's, but sits in the low 90's with some armside run to it. He has struggled with control at times, though in limited action he walked just three batters in 10 innings in 2014. His breaking ball is a slow curveball that has improved since last year and he throws a change up in the low 80's. The catcher showed off average pop times when he was at his best in high school. He has a bit of a longer swing. He could have double digit power potential. No Stats Available Video available here (can't embed) Cincinnati Reds 34th Round Selection: RHP Keenan Kish, Florida Scouting Report The 6' 3" and 205 lb right hander didn't pitch much at Florida, throwing just 14.1 innings in 2011 and then another 5.1 innings in 2013 before a hip injury cost him most of the 2013 season. It doesn't appear that he has pitched in the 2014 season. His bio at the official Florida website claims he played in 2012, but he isn't listed on any stats pages I can find for the year. No Stats Available Video Cincinnati Reds 36th Round Selection: LHP Logan Browning, High School (FL) Scouting Report The 5' 8" and 165 lb left handed pitcher has been able to reach 90 MPH, but works in the mid-to-upper 80's. He also throws a curveball that comes in around 73-76 MPH. He is the son of Tom Browning. No Stats Available Cincinnati Reds 37th Round Selection: 2B Walker Whitworth, High School (OK) Scouting Report I can't find any scouting information on Whitworth. He is related to Reds Vice President and special assistant to the GM Jerry Walker. Cincinnati Reds 38th Round Selection: LHP Bo Tucker, High School (GA) Scouting Report The 6' 3" and 196 lb left hander throws in the upper 80's with his fastball. No Stats Available Cincinnati Reds 39th Round Selection: C Seth Roadcap, High School (WV) Scouting Report I can't find a scouting report on Roadcap. If he doesn't sign, he will head to Potomac State to play baseball. He is the son of a Reds scout. Cincinnati Reds 40th Round Selection: LHP Michael Mediavilla, High School (FL) Scouting Report The final selection of the draft for the Cincinnati Reds is a 6'4" and 215 lb left handed pitcher. The MLB Scouting Bureau had a scouting video of him, as a first baseman. On the mound he has touched 91 MPH, but works in the upper 80s. He shows a change up and a curveball, though the curveball needs plenty of work.
