MK August 30, 2017 The Cardinal’s OBP might have increased but his poor defense and base running cost them at least two and maybe more runs. He botched a rundown play between first and second, with two outs in the inning allowing a runner from third to score. Also defensively he broke to the left misreading a ground ball to his right. These plays not only led to runs but extended innings , running up Amir’s pitch count. Running the bases he rounded third base too far and got picked off when they threw.behind him (next batter singled which would have scored him.). Conversely from the extended defensive inning this shortened an offensive inning. So his OBP might have increased but it wasn’t a real positive game for the Northern California Redbird. Datdudejs August 30, 2017 Any word on Senzel yet? Doug Gray August 30, 2017 The Reds are saying he’s sick. That’s the word. RedsinWashSt August 30, 2017 It almost looks like the Reds are hiding something on Senzel. Also Schebler is cranking the ball. He might be better then some think on this site. He definitely has the most power of any player on reds. If his swing wasn’t so level he would get more HR’s. MikeinSoCal August 30, 2017 Agree, Schebler doesn’t get enough love. He can put up the numbers and play reasonable defense. And he is still improving. Like Duvall, we haven’t seen what he is capable of. Colorado Red August 30, 2017 If you exclude the 4( or 3) for 53 while injured, he is hitting about 269. With the power that is good. Tampa Red August 30, 2017 That is why I don’t understand the clamor to sit Schebler to make room for Winker. It’s not like Schebler is fully developed and reached his peak yet. He doesnt even have 700 big league AB’s yet. His strike zone awareness is getting better all the time. The walk he took last night was a great AB, given the situation. I fully expected him to come up hacking to try to get in on the onslaught, but he didn’t. He just took his walk. No offense to Winker who is a very good looking player, but Schebler has the brightest future of any position player for the Reds not named Suarez or Senzel.
