Who looks like the better fit defensively at SS? Doug Gray April 11, 2018 Yes, they are, and I don’t have an answer for you on who’s better defensively yet. I’ve only seen reach play a few games there. MK April 11, 2018 Maybe you said this before and I missed it but I was surprised to hear Tom Nichols on the Dragons broadcast that Garcia was predominantly a second baseman in Cuba. Much of Dragons issues last night resulted from Crooks and Gordon dropping fly balls in the outfield. CP April 11, 2018 Great to see Herget have another good outing. Hopefully he is addressing his need to be better against LH hitter’s. I look forward to seeing him join the Reds bullpen alongside of Rainey and Weiss later this year. Curious to hear Doug’s or anyone’s thoughts on the plan for Dilson Herrera this year. Why the drop all the way to High A? That kid has got to be discouraged… Krozley April 11, 2018 Dilson just needs to play. With the plan of Senzel playing everyday at 2B in AAA, and Long entrenched at AA, it makes sense to have Dilson go to Daytona and play a lot of 2B while being able to DH as well. I would hope they explained that to him to limit the possible discouragement. Once things shake out, I believe he’ll be back in Louisville for most of the summer. If he can prove he’s over the shoulder issue, maybe he can be a trade chip or possible Scooter replacement down the line. Doug Gray April 11, 2018 My thoughts on Herrera to Daytona is two fold. First, it’s warm there and he’s still coming off of shoulder surgery. That can’t hurt. Two, they have the DH every day, so if and when he does need a day off from throwing, he can still hit every day. In AA/AAA they only DH when playing an AL team. So, you can’t just get him at-bats whenever he needs an off day. Sandheel April 11, 2018 Reds bullpen as frustrating as last year. Where is Jumbo Diaz now tha t we need him? Mac624 April 11, 2018 Worst team in baseball and it’s not even close. Worst managed also. Sad HavaKlu April 11, 2018 He’s in New Orleans where he’s able to feast on ” Jumbo-laya “ Krozley April 11, 2018 Dayton was victorious, but 15 Ks and 0 walks in 8 innings, yikes. The Duke April 11, 2018 What does the current scouting report on Naughton look like? My notes from the draft have “90-93, touch 95, iffy breaker and change, had a good Cape” and that’s about all I’ve seen. Turns 22 in 5 days, may be a possible promotion candidate by midseason if he pitches well. MK April 11, 2018 Rainey and Blandino certainly did not have positive debuts. Tanner might be the first call-up to play in the first game he is active in the Price era. He usually will not start or use them on opening day. His explanation is he wants them to sit for a day to get acclimated. Certainly wasn’t the case with Rainey. Even though he was recalled I don;t know if Blandino was there Monday or not. Cguy April 11, 2018 On a positive note both lefties Nicolino & Naughton had great starts. I’d rather Nicolino in the Bats BP & Cody Reed in the Bats rotation, but probably Bryan Price “fixed ” that also.
