Bailey showed both his good and bad sides last night against the Yankees (Kathy Willens/AP)

Spring Training Game Review

Jay Bruce went 2-3 and is hitting .381.

Chris Dickerson went 0-1.

Ryan Hanigan went 0-1.

Adam Rosales went 0-1.

Drew Anderson (OF) went 1-1.

Joey Votto went 0-2.

Paul Janish went 0-1 with a walk.

Homer Bailey allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 2.1 innings (2 runs) while striking out 3.

Notes from the game

We saw the good and the bad of Homer Bailey last night. Bailey wasn’t allowing too many hard hit balls, which was good. He broke off a bunch of curveballs for strikes (called ones too Jeff Brantley) and threw several good looking change ups. That was the good. The bad was that Bailey was working on his cutter, and it was not finding the strikezone much.

Not completely ‘prospect’ related, but Edinson Volquez is absolutely filthy. If he can improve his breaking ball even slightly it may not be fair for opposing hitters.

Jay Bruce just continues to hit. If he goes to AAA to start the year, I have no problems with that, as long as someone else performs well in CF.
