One thing that is strange is that not a single draft pick is starting higher than Low A. The Reds have to be the only team in baseball with something like that. I still find it a little crazy that Todd Frazier is going to start in Dayton.

I can’t stand Jeff Brantley. He has spewed out a bunch of stupidity since he took over in the booth. I am glad he isn’t going to be on TV that much (at least I hope not).
Adam, I will track down the money situation for minor leaguers. It all depends on who you are, but some guys can make a whole lot more than that (something to do with being on the 40 man roster at some point or something).

What is the deal with Mesoraco? Is he still getting over last years injuries? Last thing the Reds need is another high draft pick that can’t shake the injury bug….

Great stuff, as always Doug. I like Brantley because he’s decisive, but it’s obvious that he’s blowing his nose into his stat sheet every night. I do think that he epitomizes why Saber-types can’t stand baseball lifers…they speak as if from fact when it’s little more than their instincts as former ballplayers for _what worked for them_. If I recall, Brantley couldn’t hit.
I’d read in a couple of places that they’re keeping Mesoraco in ESP for a couple of reasons: they’re trying to take it easy on him for the first few cold weeks of the season and they wanted to have some one-on-one work with him for a couple of weeks.
