The Reds have the #7 overall pick in this years Draft. They don’t have a second round pick as a result of signing Francisco Cordero, so they really need to make a slam dunk pick with their first guy. Going by Baseball America’s Draft Tracker, I am going to go over the top 15 guys eligible for the Draft and do a prospect profile on each guy, one per day to get ready for the draft.
10. Shooter Hunt - RHP - Tulane
Information
| Position | RH Starting Pitcher |
| Birthdate | 8/16/86 |
| Height | 6′3″ |
| Weight | 205 lbs |
| Bats/Throws | R/R |
Scouting Report
| Fastball | Throws 90-95 MPH, while the slower the pitch was the better the movement had. Has good command of it. |
| Curveball | He has a plus curveball. |
| Changeup | Has a change up, but doesn’t throw it very often. |
| Pitchability | He could likely mix in his change up more often, but generally knows how to pitch. |
| Concerns | He doesn’t control his offspeed pitches very well and that leads to higher walk totals. The fact that he also doesn’t throw his change up hardly ever is also a concern, but the Reds do have one of the better teachers of the change up in baseball working for them. |
| Summary | Hunt brings to well above average pitches to the table with the curveball and the fastball. The lack of the change up, although he throws one in bullpen sessions but not in the game, is somewhat of a concern, but if the Reds took him I don’t think there would be too many complaining about it. Depending how things fall, he could be the best guy on the board. |
