  1. Correct me if I’m wrong, Valaika with a 16 game hitting streak that started on the first of the month.

Remember this is the guy that broke the Pioneer League record in 2006 with 32 in a row. He’s got a long way to go to add the Southern League record to his belt, which is 49, set in 1945.

Doug why in your pitching poll are their only starters. Zack Stewart should be on the list.

Good to see Rosales getting the batting average up. Two solid months now.

Contreras keeps being an RBI machine. 22 in 21 games

I wish Henry was in AAA instead of AA.

Also glad to see Stubbs start off strong in AA

Why was Livingston sent to Chattanooga instead of Louisville.

    Kevin,
I think its 15 games. Could be wrong, but thats what I read last night.

    Patrick,
There is an ‘other’ option for that reason, but generally because a starter with a 4.50 ERA over 170 innings is worth a lot more to a team than a closer with a 2.50 ERA over 60 innings.

As for Livingston, probably because there was more need for him in Chattanooga and it was the next step in line of his rehab. While he may not be officially on rehab anymore, its still where he is.

  4. Patrick,

I’ll tell ya what about Henry, that kid is a gamer. He doesnt fool around at the plate. If its over the plate he is hacking and he doesnt hold anything back. Every swing is big. Kinda reminds me of Sammy Sosa. Only Sean is 5′10 but looks smaller. He also has a gun for an arm … which really surprised me. He caught a ball last night in medium right center field and threw a lazer into home on one hop that had the runner at 3rd scampering back. Everyone in the stadium was like “wow!” I am very excited about him. If Dunn isnt back next year, it would not surprise me to see this kid get a look in spring training.

I got Stubbs to autograph a ball for me, asked him about his wrist, he said its getting better. I think that has to be affecting his power at the dish, he doesnt seem to wanna turn it loose. Results are there though, he has been getting his hits. His plate disapline has been great this series too, they have been pitching scared to him and he has been willing to take his walks which is an encouraging sign. I havent had a chance to see him steal any bases, he was always on with someone ahead of him at 2nd it seemed.

Valaika is just a hit machine, even his outs are hit pretty good. His defense has looked a lot better the last 3 games. The first game was really bad , 2 errors which should have been 4. But he just doesnt have the arm for the position

I talked to Chris Denove last night too. He seems a little down on himself after two hard line drives outs. I gave him props for the sac bunt he had and he replied with “at least I can do something right.” I told him to keep his head up, those line drives will even out over time.

Jordan Smith was down right nasty last night. They just couldnt lay off his offspeed pitches down in the zone. And when he was behind in the count, he was able to turn it up a notch and throw the fastball by guys. If he can keep that up, he will be another guy knocking at the door at AAA next year.

  5. Livingston will start in LOuisville tomorrow, as will Ben Jukish today. Daryll Thompson and Matt Malony are the Lousiville DL.

With Jukich and Livingston in AAA who goes to AA Smit?

  8. Misael DeJesus took the place on the roster and is starting right now.

  9. Why is Daryl Thompson on the DL?

  10. Shoulder something or another. It doesn’t sound too serious.

  11. Rosales is starting to get me excited about him as a Freel-type super-sub utility player for the next few years now that his bat is coming back. He is a real gamer, and can usually flat out hit. It’s good to see that his hitting woes of the early season appear to be over.

First trade that sends one of Weathers/Lincon somewhere else, Roenicke deserves the callup. I’d rather he get his feet wet with about 20-25 innings this year than start off new in April next year for the Reds.

Henry is ready for AAA, no ifs ands or buts about it. He, Cumberland, and Dickerson would make for one heckuva defenisve outfield in AAA as well.

Valaika is raking just like he always does once he gets accustomed to a level. He is starting to prove that he should start out in AAA next year.

Stubbs has been red hot since his promotion, even with a bum wrist. I love seeing the higher walk total than strikeouts as well. Perhaps he just needed to get out of the pitchers paradise that is the Florida State League.

Scott Carrol continues to suprise me. He is an advanced college arm, so he is doing what he was supposed to be doing, but its good to see the potential in action.

Neftali Soto has completely turned that Dayton lineup arouind with his arrival, coupled with Cozarts emerging bat. I really like those two as 2-3 in the order for the Dragons.

It seems like they are grooming Jeffords for a long relief Scott Sullivan type of role, he always seems to be going 2-3 inngins at a time.

Tony Brown keeps on mashing in Billings.
