Tomorrow should be Garretts turn for Louisville. Why is Bonilla starting?

On that note, imagine if the 5 currently in Louisville lived up to their potential. Wow! Thatd be a rotation that dreams are made of. Reed, Stephenson, Garrett, Mahle, and Romano. Nails.

It’s certainly possible that the probable is just listed incorrectly.

    • Beard

That might be the best AAA rotation in terms of potential that they’ve ever fielded. Add in the fact that Castillo just skipped over AAA and that’s six highly touted prospects all at approximately the same point in their careers. It sure would be nice if three of the six panned out to be long term rotation solutions for the Reds

Plus Rookie Davis. All have big league stuff, they just need to become big league pitchers.

It’s a shame Howard and Travesio have had the setbacks they’ve had. I’ll add Strahan and Antone to that list as well. That’s a dozen guys for a few spots in the rotation. And yes, I realize that those last four guys face some pretty stiff odds at this point and are at best a couple years away.

Then you have some talented relievers coming through, like Herget, Hernandez, Weiss and a few others. And position players like Senzel, Winker, LaValley, Herrera, Long and a few others a little further behind.

This is why I’m so against trading away any of the current controllable, productive and still growing guys on the 25 man for someone else’s prospects. This needs to play out for through at least the rest of this season and for me, next season. Then re-evaluate.

Former Stanford Cardinal, Alex Blandino, commits his 4th error in the bottom of the 7th on the first batter.
The unearned base runner scores to make it 2-4.

  3. Tampa Red

Doug, I know you’ve answered this before, multiple times, but what players will need to be added to 40 man this offseason? Blandino, LaValley…..?

    • Doug Gray

Anyone drafted in 2013 or earlier. Anyone that was 19-years-old or older that was drafted in 2014 – which includes LaValley.

International wise – I’m honestly not sure without looking it all up and I’m not on the computer right now that has my spreadsheet with the signing dates for everyone.

Nick Longhi: roster filler or prospect? Pretty young for his level
