Senzel called up ASAp start at 2nd if have good Defense on the dirt keep them there. How many more bad starts for Castillo until sees AAA for first time? Stock June 21, 2018 The Reds missed their window of opportunity to sign Scooter at that price. Offensively he is currently the 16th best player in the majors. Overall (offense and defense) he is tied for 19th. Among those he is tied with is Manny Machado. Machado will get $200+ million this winter. Scooter will not take less than $100 million now. As I have been saying since before the season began, Scooter is for real. His underlying stats last year backed his performance. This year his underlying stats are even better. Increase in LD% and Hard hit %. Decrease in IFFB% and Swinging K%. His defense was shaky in April but since then it has been good. The Reds missed the opportunity to lock up Scooter cheap for an extended period. kevinz June 21, 2018 The way the teams are getting smarter i do not see a 30 year old scooter at FA time getting 100 million. If he does i hope it is not the Reds never pay 30 year olds big Bucks. Usually the middle until the end the contract was not worth it. I think the reds get Caught up in the Middle of trying to Win some with alot of Losing when comes to call ups and losing service time with younger players like mahle. Doug Gray June 21, 2018 I think you are drastically overestimating the market for Scooter Gennett. Hoyce June 21, 2018 Scooter may be for real. But he won’t sniff half of the dollars u say. Stock June 21, 2018 They should have sent Castillo down 2 weeks ago (retain another year of control). I would still send him down now. He is nothing like the pitcher we hoped he would be. The Reds management just doesn’t get it. When Kris Bryant was tearing up the minors the Cubs said he wasn’t ready. Then instead of making the team out of ST the Cubs sent him back to the minors for 2 weeks. Once they locked up another year of control they brought him up. Look at the Reds though. Mahle, lost a year of control because they decided to bring him up when it mattered none in 2017 and did not rectify it this year. Maybe it is silly to thing about years of control with Castillo but he wasn’t performing at all this year so why not send him down. Historically Votto, Hamilton, Cueto, Leake and Mesoraco to name a few were brought up to begin the season with the Reds or brought up in September when the Reds were out of it (like Mahle). RedsinWashSt June 21, 2018 If the FO would have left Mahle or Castillo off of their rosters this year their would have been alot of screaming, alot from this board. Their is no way to win. So you complain about not sending them down and others would have complained if they had sent them down. Through it all the Reds management is terrible so you say. I personally would have kept Mahle down to start the year but I understand why they didn’t. MK June 21, 2018 Rough start for three rookie level teams 2-7. Pitching has been bad. The Duke June 21, 2018 Greenville in particular has been hammered in their first couple of games. Hopefully, Josiah Gray can right the ship tonight, he’s supposed to be a strike thrower. JoeRed June 21, 2018 Nick Senzel is pretty good at this baseball thing Hoyce June 21, 2018 Big nights for Senzel, trammel and gray. Doug I think the dodgers need both a 2B and a stud RP. What would u think of packaging scooter and Izzy for an elite prospect (particularly a pitcher). They have some. Would that be enuf for buehler? Too much??
