What to do with herrera if cannot trade Scooter hmm mayb in a trade package or add to 40 man to have control for a Long time at the MLB level?
Could Friedl on the high end be a Freel RIP type player at MLB level?
I know early but keep thinking the outfield of Trammell Siri and either Friedl or Beltre.
That would be quite the outfield on Defense not many Balls falling in with that Range.

    • GM Nep O'Tism

I’m just not buying into Siri.

The guy had a 3.2 BB% in A+, while striking out over 25% of the time and pulling the ball nearly 50% of the time.

No walks, a lot of strikeouts, a LOT of infield fly balls (14.7% this year), and pulling so much that shifting in the majors would devastate him.

I just don’t see that as a profile of a successful future major league hitter. Even now that he’s gotten promoted to AA, sure he hit the homer, but (minuscule sample size alert) he’s struck out 6 times in 8 PA.

      • kevinz

I have my Doubts as well GM about him as a hitter
I believe more on hope that Pitches he fouling off earlier in count he will put in play to lower his K rate.
He is a 300 hitter when ahead in the count at A + so figuring once Puts the 1st or 2nd pitch in play his Numbers plus K’s will go down.
If Siri can do more Hitting to RF like did on the homer in AA would open up his hitting game alot more.
Another thing is with his speed and defense if can surround him with Guys who can Hit he can still have some good value.
Some of the infield fly stuff could be some affects from his finger missed some time with.

    • MK

Freel was an infielder who learned to play outfield. Friedl is a left handed thrower who is too small for first base so he will be limited in his ability to be a utility guy like Freel.

      • kevinz

Thanks MK i get that but was meaning could he be like Freel where a shorter guy but shows some Pop as well get on base.
Freel for most part played all OF spots at the MLB level once was a butcher on D on the infield.

Seems odd not to add any teams but supposed to be surprising amount of interest in Duvall. What is the value for a Power Guy with good defense with Improving walk rate?

    • kevinz

How about Iggy scooter Duvall to stl for P luke weaver CF Oscar Mercada.
Doing a deal with the Devil but there weakness is Bullpen plus 2nd base where wong stinks. Duvall gives them Power plus defense in LF.
Weaver helps add another Young SP plus a Young CF which is weakness for our reds.

  3. kevinz

Since Doubt trade with stl how about a trade with Arizona.

    Scooter Iggy Fairchild for:
    P taylor Widener
C Daulton Varsho move to OF
    Pitcher Taylor Clark
    OF Gabriel Maciel.

Ari: They can move marte back to SS they put scooter at 2nd base. helps them compete more with the LAD for whole season.
CIN: adds More Pitchers to the Pot for more Depth along with OF both weak spots at the MLB level.

Then trade Duvall to SF for Austin Slater since mac will or Pence not cutting it for them. Slater can play both corner spots plus 2nd base can play CF in a Pinch a versatile player.

    • AirborneJayJay

Any trade with Arizona MUST include RHP Jon Duplantier in the return. Widener is a good second choice, or even second player in the package. But Duplantier is a must have.

      • kevinz

Ari would give him up for machado type or TOR type arm.
So figured go for next best one on there list as far as Pitchers go.

    • MK

With Bowberger Arizona doesn’t need Iglesias or at least doesn’t need to pay high for him.

      • kevinz

They might if cannot get one of the available SP.
them getting iggy could shorten the game another inning or two for them by adding iggy.

  4. Colorado Red

Any rumors on an India signing, now that FLA is out of the running

  5. Mark

So Doug where do you see India playing shortstop since this is a glaring need at major league level and no minor league stud prospect for SS?

    • Jim t

You may be judging Peraza a bit harshly. I would hardly consider his play at SS a glaring weakness. He is hitting 269 in 290 abs with 16 walks and 31 K’s. He doesn’t have much power but he has speed and puts the ball in play. I also think his athletism will make him a very good defender now that he isn’t being moved between 2nd, CF and SS. He is still only 24. I think his best baseball is still in front of him.

      • kevinz

I will admit i been high one second then Down on peraza the next.
He is for sure improving his type of style of Play.
Peraza at least has to learn how to walk more instead of not being able to make Contact .
Another thing that will Serve jose well moving Forward is his calmness
Can hardly ever tell what he is thinking that is a great skill to have in a sport where fail more than you succeed.

  6. Norwood Nate

Well, Homer Bailey continues to be awful, even in AAA. So there’s that. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Bailey is pulled out of the rotation and the rotation starts looking a lot better. Please Reds FO, don’t bring him back! Especially as he continues to get shelled against minor leaguers.

And then there’s Dilson. What to do with Dilson Herrera and where to play him? At least this is a good problem to have, unlike the Bailey situation.

    • Wes

Yeah the injury to senzel can be used as a good thing for the reds. They got to let Herrera play as much as possible soon. He should be playing everyday and when he’s brought up he needs to play daily. And it needs to happen in next 30 days. Lots of teams have deluted rosters and Herrera has too much to prove.

Hate to see reds be complacent w this!

    • Hoosierdad

I was there last night. Homer didn’t look as bad as the final line suggests. Mason Williams lost a ball in the sun in the 2nd that opened the floodgates. He hit 94 once but was routinely around 91. Not great movement on the fb. Nice walk-off suicide in the 10th for the Bats to win.

  7. kevinz

The other day i mentioned about the reds getting a wild card and trammell giving us a Jolt when need it.
This Reds team a Fun team regardless of the record at the moment.
I really like how they generally like one another and the Product starting to show on the Field.
How about exploring Trades to Add to this team give Riggle a 3 year Contract that he so wants badly.
Finally have a manager that can manager very well from the 5th inning on.
I realize the Players Help being healthy but do not see this type of stretch of play with Price still being manager.

Home run Siri had a feeling soon start connecting on these early count Pitches
