It hasn’t been the best year for the Cincinnati Reds prospects in the Arizona Fall League, at least for the position players. From a production standpoint, they’ve all had their fair share of struggles. That was not the case for Taylor Trammell and Shed Long on Tuesday night as they visited Salt River.

Taylor Trammell got the start and as he has been most of the AFL season, was batting third in the lineup. In his first trip to the plate he took a 95 MPH fastball and doubled.

The next time he went to the plate it was more of the same. After getting ahead in the count 1-0, Taylor Trammell took a 93 MPH fastball the other way for his second double of the night. Mike Rosenbaum of MLB Pipeline was there and has video available of both doubles.

Those would be his only two hits on the night, but you’ll take 2-4 with 2 doubles every day of the week. As noted above, though, Trammell wasn’t the only guy doing damage for Scottsdale from the Reds organization on Tuesday night.

Shed Long followed up the second double of the night by Taylor Trammell with an RBI single. The hit for the second baseman plated two runs and put the Scorpions up 2-1. In the 7th inning he’d come back to the plate and this time he would beat out an infield single on a ground ball to the shortstop. Like Trammell, Long would finish the night went two hits, but he only had three at-bats in the game.

Here’s a quick update of how the Cincinnati Reds players are performing around the world in the various winter leagues.
