The Greeneville Reds are entering their second year of existence in 2019 and are bringing back some of their coaching staff.

Manager Gookie Dawkins will return as the manager for the Reds in the Appalachian League. Last season was his first as a manager where his Greeneville team went 28-40. He previously served as a hitting coach in Double-A Pensacola, Advanced-A Daytona, and with the rookie level AZL Reds. In his playing career he spent parts of four seasons in the Major Leagus with the Reds and Royals.

Reggie Williams will also return to Greeneville. He will serve as the bench coach for the second straight season. It’s his second year in the Cincinnati organization. Before joining the Reds organization he worked in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system as a coach and field coordinator for seven seasons. In his playing career, Williams spent time in the Major Leagues in parts of four seasons, racking up 420 plate appearances for the Dodgers and Indians.

Derrin Ebert will be the pitching coach for the Reds. He will also serve as the assistant to the Pitching Coordinator. In 2018 he was on the Major League staff. He previously served as the pitching coach for the Arizona League Reds, Billings Mustangs, and Dayton Dragons. In his playing career he made the Major Leagues in the 1999 season with the Atlanta Braves, pitching in five games.

Luis Terrero will join the Greeneville staff as their new hitting coach. It’s his third season int he Reds organization, all of which have come as a hitting coach. His previous two seasons were spent as the hitting coach in the Dominican Summer League. In his playing career he spent parts of five seasons in the Major Leagues from 2003-2007 with the Diamondbacks, Orioles, and White Sox. He also spent one season in the minor leagues with the Reds in 2010, playing for Double-A Carolina and Triple-A Louisville.

The strength and conditioning coach will be Alex Puskarich. It’s his first year with the Greeneville staff, but he previously served in the same role with both Daytona and Billings. Josh Hobson will be the teams athletic trainer. It will be his first with Greeneville, but he previously held the same role in both Billings and with the Dominican Summer League Reds.
