The Daytona Tortugas posted a pretty cool video on twitter yesterday. They put a microphone on Cincinnati Reds prospect Jonathan India for batting practice and recorded his time in and around the cage before the game.

As noted in the tweet, this is the first edition of Tortugas Mic’d Up!, and that’s awesome. It’s a cool thing to see for those who don’t get a chance to be out there and see the personality and interaction of some of the players too often.

The season started out a bit tough for Jonathan India in Daytona. After having a big spring that had plenty of people talking, the first four games of the season saw him go 1-17 with 7 strikeouts. Since then he’s played in 26 games and has hit well, posting a .278/.352/.474 line with 5 doubles, a triple, and 4 home runs for the Tortugas while playing third base. To put that in context, the league as a whole is hitting .238/.313/.347 on the season. The Florida State League continues, for the eleventy-billionth straight year, to crush hitting statistics.
