The team activated left-handed reliever Amir Garrett from the 10-day injured list. They also activated right-handed reliever Raisel Iglesias from the paternity list. To create a spot on the 25-man roster they optioned right-handed reliever Jimmy Herget to Triple-A Louisville. After a debut that he would have written very differently, Jimmy Herget got into two games after that and performed well. In his debut he allowed three runs on five hits in just 0.2 innings. But 11 days later (this did include the All-Star break) he pitched a shutout inning against St. Louis. Last night he pitched 2.0 perfect innings – also against the Cardinals. He’ll head back to Triple-A to rejoin the Bats bullpen where he had a 3.58 ERA on the season before being called up in early July. The Cincinnati Reds did not immediately announce the other roster move. The original version of this article noted that, but the move was just announced (5:50pm ET): Right-handed reliever Matt Bowman was also optioned to Triple-A Louisville. He had pitched in 18 games with the Reds this season, posting a 4.58 ERA in 19.2 innings. He had walked nine – though two were intentional, and he struck out 15 of the 102 batters that he faced. Mitch July 20, 2019 Reds apparently signed Tyler Gibson from the Florence Freedom. Anything on this? Not a splashy move obviously but the Florence freedom shares this news and I haven’t seen confirmation of it anywhere else. Martino July 20, 2019 I wonder when Kuhnel gets his shot at cardiac surgery to stop bleeding in Cincinnati.. Martino July 20, 2019 Or Anthony Bass for that matter.. Reds bullpen is definitely running on fumes..maybe even on leftover water from last year’s failure to use gas stabilizer.. Bill July 20, 2019 Anthony Bass opted out of his minor league contract with the Reds in May and is now pitching with the Mariners. Oldtimer July 20, 2019 I would think Amir Garrett will replace him on 25 man roster.
